With the summer heat wavering off going into the fall, the matchups at 559 Fights are not cooling down anytime soon with three championship bouts to headline.
Tickets start at just $40 and can be purchased at www.559fights.com.
“The summer series was explosive,” 559 Fights CEO Jeremy Luchau said. “We broke our attendance record twice, and we put on several high-level title fights. Most importantly we continue to grow Valley MMA and support the athletes in the area.”
In the main event, the 559 Fights Middleweight title will be put on the line as Coalinga’s Francisco Hurtado (3-0) looks takes on Stockton’s Jacob Wilkins (3-2).
“Francisco Hurtado is as big of a name as their comes in the Valley. He’s been one of the hottest prospects over the last few years,” Luchau said. “He is back now after dealing with an injury and taking on one of Northern California’s top prospects in Wilkins.”
The co-main event features Bakersfield’s Julio Larrave (6-3) who will defend his 559 Fights and CAMO Bantamweight State titles as he takes on a familiar foe in Clovis’ Johnny Diaz (4-2).
“We don’t do rematches too often, but in this case, it was necessary,” Luchau said. “Diaz has proven over the last few events that he is much improved since the previous meeting. Meanwhile, I truly believe that Larrave might be the most improved athlete I’ve seen in the cage over the last year. He is getting close to being pro-ready.”
For the feature bout of the evening, the championship action does not stop as Avenal’s Fabian Maldonado (2-2) will look to take on a former 559 Fights title challenger in Fresno’s Michael Ramirez (4-4) in a 170-pound showdown.
“Really excited to get the 170-pound division a champion again,” Luchau said. “This should be a good of a fight as there is on any fight card.”
